Eight things

Thank you Ms Bonnie for tagging me...

Eight Things I am looking forward to:
1. The Zine Symposium! EEK!
2. Craft night is tonight! Gotta work on that zine.
3. Ms. Bonnie Rue is coming to visit!
4. Wearing my kippah at services tomorrow. I know it's weird, but I've never been to a place where that was kosher and caused no gossip or stares. I think I love my possible new temple.
5. Finally having the house up to my standards. It's a lot of work, and there's so much to get rid of... by the end of next week, it'll be so fabulous!
6. Multiple upcoming Naked Lady parties.
7. Listing new Etsy goodness: elimakes.etsy.com
8. Jumping into the river again, as soon as possible.

Eight Things I did yesterday:
1. Worked, and was semi-lovingly mocked by my coworkers for my inability to feed myself. Yeah yeah, I know. It is pretty pathetic to be this helpless in the kitchen, but I just hate it.
2. Cleaned vigorously.
3. Finished a summery skirt and a very wintery scarf for myself.
4. Took out all of the winter things left in the closet.
5. Found my ubergothic bathing suit so I don't have to jump into the river in my skivvies. Which doesn't mean I won't. Bathing suits are the devil. Skivvies are cute.
6. Began organizing my studio.
7. Agonized over my situation. Actually, that took up most of my day. You can totally agonize while cleaning, sewing, and working.
8. Ate leftover pizza for dinner, again. Yeah.

Eight Things I wish I could do:
1. Not agonize and just do whatever I want. Like a pirate, but very polite.
2. Budget.
3. Become gainfully employed.
4. waste less time
5. Be immaculate with my words. Seriously.
6. Be more patient with people and remember that they're doing the best that they can.
7. Remember to work out instead of sewing for myself. I really have enough clothing, now I need to focus on looking good in it, or I'll have to make bigger clothing.
8. Not hate cooking so much.

Eight Shows I watch:
1. Lost
2. The Simpsons
3. Ugly Betty
4. My name is Earl
5. Law & Order
6. 30 Rock
7. The Office
8.
No cable, only DVDs. I also hate trying to keep up with things and have no will to devote to regular TV viewing so I'm always a season or two behind.

You're it!

Negligent!

Yes, I'm a negligent blogger. I have no home internet access. :(

But I've had tons of time to sew!

Darshan is going out of town for a few weeks. This will be the first time we've been apart for more than a week, so I'm a bit nervous/excited. Hopefully I'll have more time to venture to wireless territory.

I'll take that vacation now, please

So, we moved almost 2 weeks ago, but didn't finish everything until last Sunday morning, at which point I immediately became sick AGAIN. This month's productivity is at record low- illness, finding a new home, moving, cleaning, and back to illness.

Last week I took leave of my senses and ate a bunch of wheat cake. I feel fine, other than the head cold that had taken root before said cake was given to me. O_o Which makes no sense, because usually even a teensy bit of the evil gluten is enough to have me looking for a place to hang my rope. Then I took it a bit further and went to a bar *gasp* with friends and had cheese fries and a couple of Coronas. SO WRONG, right? Not at all typical Eli behavior. I felt (okay, still feel) super guilty, since I don't even miss dairy. I really thought the beer was ultimately more evil, but Darshan does not think that there's any hidden glutens in Corona. I don't know, I've just avoided beer entirely for the past 3 years, so it felt like I was being really really bad.

In other news, I found out that my dear friend Sunni has set a date for her wedding. Mazel Tov! but jeez I feel weird that we have not even discussed a date yet. That's 2 of my best girls in the next year. *sigh* Anyone else will have to wait until late 2010 if they want me to be able to afford to fly out- please schedule your life commitment according to my financial constraints, if you please. ;) I'm super excited to visit both of these ladies, especially since both weddings are taking place in the blessedly warm south, giving me much needed reprieve from the cold raininess of Portland.

Pass the next painful situation, please

Okay, the move will all be over soon, just a few days. Deep breaths. I do this more than anyone I know, shouldn't I be super awesome at it by now? Seriously.

I'm very much looking forward to a new neighborhood, a new food co-op and new places to ride my bike. I have to get back to the cleaning, but expect many pictures in the coming week.

Also, I would like to once again express my love for the work of Natalie Dee.

Automobile Interior Design

Okay, so obviously I am super excited about my new used Prius! It rules. I waited until Darshan got home last night so he could be there when I first took it out. While waiting, I covered 3 of the 4 headrests and thought long and hard about what kind of seat covers I want for this car.

I have roughly 10 yards of tiny tan leopard print, purchased for a couch that we ended up hating and getting rid of. Over time, I have come to like this fabric less and less. It's not worthy of my intended couch, not modern or formal enough. But for a car... so perfect. Darshan concurs.

The conflict arises due to the fact that I think the leopard on it's own is a little dull, and I want to add a panel of something for interest. The fabric is not actually wide enough to cover the backseat in one piece, so the panel is necessary, but could be made of the same fabric. Here's roughly how it would look in all one fabric:

See what I mean? It's boring. "No," insists Darshan, "it's pimp." This is how I would do it:
So, I can't decide. He should have some input, but ultimately it's my car, and I kind of want it to be super ornate. At least I've pretty much given up on using the tassels:
Because that's definitely going overboard.

In other Prius news, I filled the tank today for $13! I couldn't believe it. I'm excited to see how long a tank lasts. The only thing I really don't like about it is the decreased visibility. I really can't see as much when I back up, somehow the space between the back and side windows is bigger. Other than that, it's a dream!

I have to delay further developing my dream Prius interior because finding an apartment and packing have become my top priorities. I also need to sell the van, which I'm really not looking forward to, because it needs so much work.

All I want to do is sew, and I have so many more important things. :(

Oh my, I'm just so excited. Darshan says he'll learn to drive now! The Prius is so tiny that it'll be easy to park, and it's in much better condition than the van so there's less risk of breakdowns, not to mention the reduced carbon footprint! I'm totally squeeing about this. I just can't believe it.
